Oversight Ministry
Moseley Parish is part of an Oversight Area. This means that Revd Angela Hannafin, as Incumbent here, is also Oversight Minister, or the person who has pastoral responsibility for a group of churches.
Birmingham Diocese has a strategy of Oversight Areas for growth across our city. In our Oversight Area there are three parishes which are our own, the United Church of St Paul's and Rea Church. There is information about all of these below. Also, part of our area is a missional community associated with ReachAcross Canada. Members of the community work in different capacities within the local area and are from different parts of the world. Some of the members also attend our churches and contribute to their ministry.
As culture changes, there is a great richness to be found in moving beyond parish boundaries to share resources and to create relationships. As each church holds different strengths, we can support each other. We see this as a movement of God's Holy Spirit as we think and pray about what we share and what we can do together even though we might understand the message of Jesus with different emphases and have some differences in theological outlook.
The leaders of the church communities are now meeting together to have breakfast and to pray. This year there have been several joint ventures, mostly focused around social events and discipleship. For example:
- Eat Pray Love are regular evenings where anyone from our Oversight Area can come to share food and worship and get to know others. The dates for 2026 are 9th February, 8th June and 12th October.
- We joined together to sing Christmas carols at Wetherspoons on Thursday 18th December 2025.
- Moseley Parish Clergy regularly support St Paul's by leading Sunday services.
- On Sunday 14th December, the Parish of Moseley and St Paul’s came together for a Community Carol Service at St Anne’s Church.

Eat Pray Love
On Monday 9th February, a small group of us gathered from our Oversight Area to share food and pray together at St Anne's Church.
Thank you to all who brought food (fantastic cottage pie from Anja!). Revd Magdalen led us in some sharing about which important Bible verse has made a difference to us on our journey of faith based on the verse in Psalm 119:
"Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path"
We prayed and sang around the image of light in the darkness.
Eat Pray Love is a way of building new community beyond existing parish boundaries and definitions and doing 'church' a bit differently. All are welcome!
Our next Eat Pray Love sessions will be on 8th June and 12th October.
