Weddings and Blessings

Congratulations on your engagement!

A church wedding is a very special event and we would love to welcome you, along with your family and friends, to one of our churches. Both St Mary's and St Anne's churches are available for wedding ceremonies.

How do I start planning my church wedding?

There is a dedicated website called Your Church Wedding which contains all you need to know about church weddings and blessings. We would suggest you start there.

What do I do next?

Contact us in the Church Office. We will ask you some simple questions to get started - who you are, where you live, what date you would like to be married and which church you would prefer.

If you live within our parish, you can ask to be married in our churches. You can check whether you live in our parish by entering your postcode into the A Church Near You website.

If you don't live in our parish, you may still be able to be married in our churches, if you have what is called a 'Qualifying Connection'.  If this applies, we will talk you through the process.

Next, we will send you a link to an online Marriage Form. This form is used to gather more details about you and your wedding. It also asks whether you would like the organ to be played in church, whether you would like our church choir to sing, and whether you would like the church bells to be rung. The costs associated with each of these items, along with the cost of the marriage itself, are confirmed on the Marriage Form.

Once we receive your completed form, we will guide you through the rest of the process, step by step.

Can we have a Wedding Blessing?

If you have already been married in a civil ceremony, it is possible to have a service of blessing in church. The service itself would be very similar to a church wedding ceremony, the main difference being that the marriage registers will not be signed, as the legal requirements will already have been covered in your civil ceremony. Please contact us in the Church Office to discuss if you are interested in a service of blessing.

Thank you for considering St Mary's or St Anne's for your wedding or blessing.

Katy Charles - Covid Chronicle

On Saturday 11th July 2020, Katy Charles and Matt Peers were married at St Mary's Church, Moseley. Here you can listen to Katy's "Covid Chronicle" (broadcast on BBC Sounds on 8th December) about the circumstances that led to them deciding to get married in 2020, after being together for 18 years, and about their special day.
